1. OVERVIEW

When new emulsions of Paper are introduced, it is not always clear whether a simple cross-over (PAP change) is sufficient, or whether a new paper matrix needs to be established. The following information should assist in evaluating what needs to be done for a new paper/emulsion.

2. PROCEDURE

First Test Master Paper channel with original Paper/Emulsion until at aim. Then run a TROD 1 of the same paper. Keep and label Test.

Now Test the new paper/emulsion with TEST C until at aim, then run a TROD 1 on this paper/emulsion.

Now we can compare the original TROD with the new paper/emulsion TROD:

• If the density steps are the same and the color is unchanged in unders/overs when comparing the original and the new TROD, the original Paper Matrix can be used.
• If the new TROD exhibits a color shift in the unders and/or overs, the Paper Matrix for the new paper/emulsion needs to be established in a separate Paper channel (new master and subchannels).
• If the new TROD exhibits a significant density shift in the unders and/or overs, the Paper Matrix for the new paper/emulsion needs to be established in a separate Paper channel (new master and subchannels).
