PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT FOR 3140 / 3141 PRINTERS

OVERVIEW

Currently the 3140 and 3141 printers will advance paper at the maximum feed rate when the operator pushes the Paper Feed button. This leads to excessive paper use, because the operator is unable to perform just single paper feeds. The Modification designed by FINISys will help control paper usage in the print room, while retaining functions (required by maintenance personnel). The low cost of the modification and the added functionality present a very competitive product that helps control paper waste.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Paper Saver designed by FINISys will help reduce operator paper waste due to uncontrolled paper feeds (caused by too rapid repetition of the printer). When the operator pushes the Paper Feed button, a feed is executed approximately every 1.5 seconds as long as the button is held pushed. This will allow accurate counting of the required paper feeds without unduly slowing down operation. No possibility exists to feed more rapid except as described in following paragraph.

To allow maintenance to test the printer in rapid (normal) feed mode, a new function has been added: When the Paper Feed and the Alarm Reset Button are pushed at the same time, the printer will perform rapid paper feeds. This allows maintenance to check markers and other functions as before the modification (without having to change any jumpers).

ORDERING and KIT INFORMATION

The modification Kit is field installable by qualified maintenance personnel and comes with comprehensive installation documentation (time required is approximately 30 minutes).
