PRODUCT FOR 3140 and 3141 PRINTERS

OVERVIEW

The current design of the (STANDARD) 3141 Printer-BMC Interface has some inherent problems that will occasionally cause Cut-Marks not being fully punched through and End-of-Order Marks missing. This causes problems at the ULTIMA Packaging Station and also leads to missorts and downtime. Additional downtime at printing due to Maintenance will also be incurred. No error messages is generated at the printer when this problem occurs.

DESCRIPTION OF MODIFICATION

The modification consists of a satellite pcb to the Driver Card in the Interface Box, that will properly determine when a Cut-Mark punch is diverted and send the correct signal back to the printer logic. When an End-of-Order Mark is punched (double punch), each solenoid will turn off when it reaches it’s respective down position, insuring that both punches are fully punched through. A change is also made to the +24 volt power distribution to eliminate spurious intermittent problems.
